Sr. Electrical Design Engineer - Battery Packs

About the Job

 

New Product Development
·        Work with marketing specifications and with Advanced Battery Cell team to develop battery packs to satisfy requirements
·        Program manage pack development projects
 
Product Support
·        Track warranty activity and initiate corrective action.
·        Identify and implement cost reductions.
·        Complete ongoing electrical evaluation of competition.
 
Project Management
·        Lead mid-level design projects under the supervision of senior engineering. 
·        Facilitate project flow involving regular contact with Manufacturing and other cross-functional staff members
·        Track project schedule to ensure adherence to timeliness; keep manager informed on project and product support issues.
 
Manufacturing
·        Work with Advanced Engineering cell engineer to develop and maintain familiarity and understanding of the various cell operations.
 
Suppliers
·        Interact with suppliers to develop part/product specifications that meet performance requirements while falling within process capabilities.
 
Materials
·        Evaluate product design relative to the selection, cost and resolution of problems associated with materials, heat treatment and finishes and make recommendations to Engineering.
 
Design Analysis
·        Perform a wide variety of calculations and software aided analysis 
 
Battery Cycle Test Room
·        Conduct life tests, manage data and maintain battery testing history
·        Occasionally design new experiments and test systems.
·        Occasionally use design of experiments (DOX) analytical techniques.
·        Exhibit vision and foresight to test the extremes of a design.
·        Draw concise, logical, written conclusions from experiments based on data analysis.
 


Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering plus 3 years or more years of related experience. 
  • Must have well developed interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Sound electrical/electronic background, statistical measurement and data processing skills are necessary. 
  • Must be able to use Access database, Lotus Notes, Sigma Plot and Microsoft Office.
