Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE -
Prepares and files consolidated Federal income tax returns. Helps to resolve any income tax issues that arise as a result of business operations. May complete special projects to generate tax savings.


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

  • Assures timely and accurate filing of Federal income tax returns.
  • Supervises and files various miscellaneous tax returns and informational returns.
  • Maintains supporting accounts and records, including interaction with corporate accounting to ensure proper reporting of tax information.
  • Serves as a contact for Federal tax auditors including managing the income tax audit process.
  • Researches income tax issues regarding: audits, compliance, and new business initiatives.
  • Participates in tax planning.


    NATURE AND SCOPE -
  • Typically reports to Tax Manager.
  • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.


    ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be eighteen years of age
  • Must pass the Drug Test
  • Must pass the Background Check
  • Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable


    EDUCATION REQUIRED -
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.


    YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 3


    PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -
  • Four to seven years of experience is preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Tax preferred.


    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
  • Experience performing tax preparation, tax filing, tax compliance, tax review, tax research, and tax audit management experience and audit procedures such as sampling, projections, and negotiating.
  • Knowledge and application of theories and principles of tax law and accounting.
  • Intimate knowledge of Home Depot's systems and their relationship with other areas of the SSC as well as stores.
  • Analytical, organization, project management, communication and people management skills.
  • CPA certification.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Tax.
