Sr. Graphic Web Designer

About the Job

Johnston McLamb is seeking an experienced graphic web designer to maximize system usability and assist in graphically representing technologies and solutions.  Candidate will work as part of a team to develop system interface designs for various applications, create architecture diagrams representing proposed system integrations as well as generate various for-print materials and images.  The candidate will work closely with database and application developers to produce user interfaces that maximize usability and are consistent with the design patterns of system architects.  The candidate will produce screen mockups, HTML mockups, architecture diagrams, logo and branding, and various printed material.



Responsibilities:


  • Develop screen mockups representing design concepts and depicting application flow
  • Ability to develop functional HTML mockups of applications presenting a comprehensive design of the final product allowing click through
  • Ability to interface and present design concepts (i.e. mockups) to customers
  • Advanced knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Fireworks as well as a solid understanding of HTML/CSS, with experience optimizing designs for the web
  • Define comprehensive design standards including application branding and site themes that are consistent in tone, voice, messaging, imagery, impression, and personality
  • Familiarity with Flash, Flex, JavaScript, JSP and/or PHP and/or .NET a plus
  • Ability to graphically represent architectural diagrams in a consistent manner aligned with the objectives of the project and/or customer
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate well with inter-departmental personnel
  • Works closely with staff from Sales/Marketing and Engineering
  • Ability to produce images and graphics suitable for print
  • Research information and best practices to enhance the value of designs and improve usability
  • Proven organization skills, professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, self motivated, and the ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Portfolio that displays an understanding of user-centered design (online portfolio preferred)
  • Primary Location: Chantilly, VA, with some travel to Washington DC.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factor, Software Engineering and/or Visual Design a plus
  • Three or more years experience in web interface and web page layout design
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • HTML/CSS mastery a must
