Sr IT Technical Specialist
About the Job
An individual contributor responsible for providing solutions from an integrated perspective. Performs architecture activities, including preparing architectural documents, analyzing technology trends, and performing modeling analysis. Involved in the development, specification and communication of Avon's technology architecture plan, the infrastructure components required to support it and in the integrations of corporate, distributed and/or client server business area architectures. Creates system architecture and designs interfaces. May take an overall view of application, data, and technology in addition to performing general application architecture activities.
Architecture
- Lead implementation of SOA technologies in Avon's Supply Chain IT
- Perform analyses including modeling, tradeoff analysis, prototyping/experimentation/ simulation; create technology trend analyses/roadmaps
- Evaluates technology trends in hardware, applications, and data and research integrated solutions for general application
- Influence business strategy; translate business strategy into technical vision and application architecture strategy; understand customer and market trends; capture customer, organizational and business requirements in the architecture
Communicate, listen, network, influence with key players; adhere to the vision; monitor all critical influencers of the architecture project
- Participate in execution of IT projects to ensure adherence to goals and line of business needs
- Owns all high-level technical design and application architecture decisions and coordinates technical design reviews
- Conduct application architecture principle and design pattern determinations. Illustrate decisions using application layer and context diagrams and other architectural documents and presentations
- Coordinate with data architects to ensure feasibility and applicability of overall architecture
Relationship Management
- Build "trusted advisor" relationships; understand what the Technical Specialists, Business Analysts, Developers want and need from the application architecture and help them see its value and how to use it successfully; mentor junior architects
- Establish team context (overall solution architecture vision); make and enforce decisions; build teams; motivate key players from business, technology
- Knowledge Management
Contribute to and follow enterprise architecture standards and share throughout the organization through the Architecture Standards Group (ASG)
- Work with Technical Specialists in Market and Enterprise areas to ensure consistent vision and application of enterprise architectures
Build the architecture competency based on industry and Avon enterprise standards and participate in standards development and promotion of standards application through the ASG
Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science, information systems or related field, or equivalent experience. Master's degree preferred
- A minimum of 8 - 10 years of experience in systems development or consulting; experience with a variety of technologies and packages; and experience as a Developer, Technical Specialist and/or Business Analyst
- Proven experience in the design and implementation of an SOA solution is a must
- Oracle Fusion, Software AG or IBM WebSphere suite of products a plus
- Implementation of Oracle EnterpriseOne 8.11 or higher a plus
Implementation of a BPM solution a plus
