Position Description:
The Commercial Marine Underwriter has direct responsibility to market, evaluate, underwrite and price commercial marine business in an assigned territory. The primary focus is to drive commercial marine new business within the territory. Partners with high profile key agents to analyze the agent's business plan and implement strategies for growth. Also responsible for managing a portfolio of renewal business, focusing on retention.

Key Position Responsibilities
• Oversee a book of business
• Understands and participates in implementation of territory/branch business plan and sets goals accordingly
• Identify and write new inland marine accounts working with key agents
• Underwrite renewal business including appropriate exposure/control analysis, negotiation with agent and delivery of accurate and concise issuance instructions
• Manage agency relationships including visiting agency, attending producer sales meetings, and training agents/CSR's
• Active participant in team meetings, share key competitive and market intelligence
• Actively develop lists of leads and prospect from key agents. Pro-actively solicits and quotes leads
• Works well with UT’s and distributes appropriate tasks to the support staff

• Business cultivation in agent's office - 50%
• New business underwriting and quoting - 20%
• Key renewals underwriting, pricing, and negotiation - 20%
• Customer Service - 10%
