Role Summary/Purpose The Independent Practices (IP) Engineering team is a global development organization with personnel located in Plano, TX; Hillsboro, OR; Burlington, VT; and Bangalore, India. Our products include Practice Management (PM), Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Group Management (formerly IDX Groupcast) and affiliated software applications.
Essential Responsibilities This position is a key member of the development team responsible for creating and implementing infrastructure components and application enhancements to the Centricity EMR (Electronic Medical Record) and Centricity CPS (Practice Management) applications. As a Senior V&V Engineer on the Independent Practices development team, you'll be responsible for Validation and Verification activities related to development of the Centricity EMR and Centricity CPS. You’ll work with other developers to deliver well-documented, testable and high quality solutions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of software test systems and healthcare IT applications. Your job responsibilities will include: - Lead the test effort in software projects - Develop verification and validation plans and timelines for delivery of a quality product on time - Provide validation for requirements, designs, and new software components - Develop functional test plans and detailed test steps - Develop and run automated tests - Perform functional, automation, and end-to-end tests for each product release - Track status and communicate progress effectively to project management - Provide necessary knowledge transfer to support and services organizations - Continuously look for ways to improve effectiveness and efficiency allowing us to provide a higher quality product in less time. - Stay up-to-date on healthcare industry and government standards and initiatives related to Healthcare IT development - Work in cross-functional project teams that include Product Development, Customer Learning, Usability, and Support - Work with other GE product teams, partners and customers to understand requirements
Qualifications/Requirements - Bachelors Degree in EE, CE, CS, MIS or related field (or High School Diploma/GED and minimum 10 years experience as a software validation engineer)- Minimum of 7 years experience as a Test or Quality Engineer - Demonstrated experience in leading software test projects- Demonstrated experience in developing product test strategies and plans.- Demonstrated experience with automated and manual testing of Windows-based applications- Demonstrated experience in at least one programming or scripting language- Demonstrated experience writing automated tests and setting up test automation infrastructure- Demonstrated understanding of the software product development life-cycle - Experience working on projects developed and tested iteratively (Agile or Scrum experience a plus) - You must be willing to take a drug test- You must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background- You must submit your resume through gecareers.com or a job board to be considered for a specific job opening Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work. Desired Characteristics - Certified software tester by American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB) or equivalent- High energy self-starter- Agile or Scrum experience a plus- Passionate about delivering quality products- A knack for finding bugs others don’t in a product- Able to communicate complex technical issues in a clear, concise manner- A track record of working in a multi-disciplinary team - Experience in Healthcare IT product development or related industry- Experience with relational databases and SQL on SQL Server- Experience with software configuration management & change control tools- Experience with practice management workflows- Working knowledge of interface formats such as HL7 and IHE- Experience with interface engine technology and how it’s applied in healthcare environments- Experience working with a global team- Six Sigma Quality Experience (Green Belt/Black Belt certified)
