The Senior Manager of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) will be directly responsible for providing strategic direction and driving a culture of continuous improvement to foster a safe and healthy work environment for all North American Laundry business Henkel plant facilities, warehouses and Contract Manufacturers. This individual will work collaboratively with operations leadership, executive management and site SHE teams to continually improve performance in a matrix organization. The position reports to the Director SHEQ, with dotted-line responsibility for all plant safety leaders. The person in this role will direct and support corporate SHE efforts using and improving performance metrics and directing and developing the SHE organization to achieve year-over-year improvements. Strong leadership, presentation and communication skills and the ability to build consensus and handle a complex set of responsibilities are essential traits.


 


 


What we offer


Serve as the Regional Leader for all Safety, Health and Environmental activities
Provide effective team leadership to the SHE organization to achieve world-class performance
Sets the regional strategy for all SHE related activity.
Develops & Lead the corporate SHE compliance audit program
Develops and Leads plants to implement all PSM activities in the plants
Develops & Manages the corporate metrics program including site performance reviews, monthly reporting and periodic system improvement reviews
Acts as Regional Leader for SHE ISO programs at all 4 Laundry Sites, including ISO 14001, 18001 & 50001
Serve as subject matter expert regarding all SHE matters
Support any due diligence activities as needed
Identify and mitigate environmental and safety risks at sites/areas throughout the company
Ensure compliance with all applicable SHE laws and regulations
Develop and implement sustainability initiatives
Manage all required SHE reports, permits, licenses and record-keeping
Manage third party consultants as needed
Ensure SHE regulatory training requirements are met
Oversee and direct any remediation activities as needed
Develop and continuously improve SHE policies, standards and procedures
Represent the company in dealings with government agencies, customers, industry groups and other third parties
Review capital projects to ensure SHE aspects are addressed
Prepare and manage corporate SHE operation budget
Establish and achieve goals based on gap analysis of department or location SHE performance; prioritize issues and projects to achieve SHE compliance
Surveys, compiles, and analyzes data relating to occupational and environmental health issues such as chemical exposure, radiation, smoke, fumes, noise, temperatures, dusts, vapors, mists, gases, solvents, lighting, and ergonomics which are known or suspected of being real or potential detriments to health, and develops risk reduction actions/control mechanisms. 

Qualification:

Who we are looking for


Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, or Environmental Science/Engineering.
At least 10 years combined experience in Safety and/or Environmental roles in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
At least 5 years Strong SHE leadership position.
Must possess knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for developing and managing programs; including the ability to perform detailed risk assessments on all applicable machinery/equipment in the facility and the ability to prioritize assessed risks and ensure that effective controls are implemented.
Must possess a working knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA), SHE Program Management (Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental), Risk Management, Behavior-Based Safety, Training, and Auditing.
Information Management/Computer Skills - has solid knowledge in the use and features of the suite of Microsoft packages (especially Access and Excel). Can work with integrated databases and generate neatly formatted numerical and graphical reports.
Communications - is able to communicate (verbal and written) clearly, accurately and effectively in formal and informal settings. Listens well in one-on-one and group settings. Realizes when information needs to be communicated to appropriate parties.
Interpersonal - knows how to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with managers and employees at all levels. Able to participate on team projects by contributing ideas that add value and completing team assignments. Is able to give and receive feedback constructively and modify behavior accordingly. 
Project Management - is able to set goals on projects in collaboration with others. Remains organized while conducting various activities and coordinates own work efforts to stay on schedule. Recognizes when projects are not meeting expectations and offers recommendations. 
Cognitive - can independently arrive at good solutions on simpler problems and works with others to solve more complex problems. Makes well-informed decisions and recognizes the need for new or modified approaches. Designs and completes basic quantitative and qualitative analyses to evaluate and display various types of information and data. Reviews information for accuracy and completeness and draws accurate conclusions from data.
Personal Effectiveness - can be counted on to honor commitments and follow through. Builds stable, trusting relationships. Strives for quality and continuous improvement as a way of doing business and consistently demonstrates high ethical standards.
