Job Description:
The Systems Development Engineering Center (SDC) is currently searching for a Senior Manager, Engineering to lead a department for Information Assurance. This leader will be responsible for leading approximately 75 engineers in the Information Assurance department in the Integrated Systems Directorate of SDC.
This position includes responsibility for strategy, roadmaps, technology development, staffing, program execution of all secure processing and navigation activities across all SAS programs. These including all proprietary programs, system integrity, navigation and GPS and other innovative solutions.
Responsibilities include: staffing; deployment of process initiatives including RCCC, CMMI, and ensuring compliance to processes product level technology roadmap and strategy, discipline level work product management in ensuring quality, technical performance, and timeliness of work products; provide technical mentorship to team members; performance management to include goal setting, career counseling, compensation, and employee training and development; ensure achievement of diversity within the organization; develop the department infrastructure and develop/monitor the department's strategic plan; frequently interact with program managers, business development, center management, BACEs and business area VPs to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and center; champion, implement, and sustain R6S within the department. Provide guidance, coaching and direction to Section Managers on performance management, career development & training, and resource allocation.
Responsible for leading the department in the execution of the Center and SAS Engineering goals.
The Department Manager will be engaged with the various businesses / PEOs. This includes being involved in gate reviews, proposal development, and various design reviews. Program responsibilities also include the following: attending PPRs, reviewing proposals and EACs; approving tailoring reports; holding FMRs; championing productivity initiatives actively managing productivity metrics and drives improvements; ensuring employees within organization are trained and able to execute their responsibilities.
Basic Qualifications:
-Minimum 12+ years in engineering experience to include leadership roles
-Thorough knowledge of the IS Directorate's products and technologies.
-Working knowledge of bidding process and proposal development.
-Working knowledge of EVMS, IMS, & IMP tools for managing programs.
-Strong written and oral communication skills.
-Strong judgment and decision making abilities.
-Strong people interaction skills.
-Able to effectively work multiple tasks and priorities.
-Excellent follow through and persistence.
-Strong advocate for process improvement (e.g. CMMI and R6s).
-Strong ability to build relationships with Program Managers and Directors and to negotiate in difficult situations
-Able to influence the direction of business development and program execution
-Ability to guide an area with very strong growth into steady state maturity with regard to its people, process and technology

An Active DoD Secret security clearance
Required Education (including Major):
-Bachelor's Degree in Math, Science or Engineering discipline.
