Description

Principal Accountabilities or Duties:

Accountable for designing, developing, and optimizing new and existing Oracle databases. Involved in developing automated conversion and migration methods.

Responsible for providing Oracle database support for the development and QA teams.

Senior Oracle Development DBA must demonstrate experience installing, configuring, tuning and troubleshooting database applications and databases. Will be responsible for the planning, installation, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of database instances and associated software tools. Excellent communication skills with ability to interact across teams and departments are a must.

Qualifications

Skill-Based:

1. Extensive experience in data transformations, conversion and interface, data loading, database modeling and performance tuning and optimization.

2. Demonstration of expert level experience in developing and maintaining scalable, robust client-server based databases and applications is essential.

3. Demonstrate extensive experience in data transformations, conversion, data loading, database modeling and performance tuning and optimization.

4. Possess strong Coding and Designing Experience in Oracle PL/SQL & SQL. Have extensive experience in Oracle PL/SQL Development, including Packages, Stored Procedures, and Functions & Triggers using SQL Developer and TOAD as development tools.

5. Demonstrate extensive experience in creating and maintaining Database Objects like Tables, Views, Materialized views, Indexes, Constraints, Sequence, Synonyms etc.,

6. Knowledge of physical database design including storage system design and storage capacity planning.

7. Performs Oracle database and operating system performance monitoring and makes or recommends necessary adjustments.

8. Excellent knowledge of Oracle backup and recovery scenarios and software including RMAN.

9. Experience using Oracle tools including Oracle Enterprise Manager GRID Control.

10. Knowledge of Oracle security management.

11. Experience migrating application code, database changes, and data through the various stages of the development life cycle.

12. Expert level Shell, Perl, and SQL scripting

13. 8+ Years experience as Oracle DBA preferably supporting Development teams

14. Expert level Oracle 11g, RAC

15. Experience with RMAN, ASM, Dataguard, RHEL 5.3, Oracle Streams

16. Recent hands on experience writing Triggers and Stored Procedures

17. Expert experience in data modeling and performance tuning

18. Understands the way Oracle enforces data integrity.

19. Able to develop technical documentation as required

Responsibilities

The Senior Oracle Development DBA will be responsible for these and other tasks as determined by their Manager:

1. Administers all database objects, including tables, clusters, indexes, views, sequences, packages and procedures.

2. Designing, maintaining and building conceptual, logical and physical database models.

3. Perform feasibility analysis on potential future enhancement alternatives. Conduct design reviews when necessary.

4. Develops and communicates work assignments, target dates and other aspects of assigned projects.

5. Construct components of solutions to meet business needs.

6. Act as a high-level technical expert, and mentors less experienced colleagues in addressing data-related problems of systems integration, compatibility and multiple-platform integration.

7. Contributes to overall data architecture strategy based on the analysis, design and creation of the enterprise data marts.

8. Maintain appropriate repositories of data model and dataflow diagrams relating to the subject discipline

9. Remain current with technology, IT best practices and Data management trends in order to make appropriate development recommendations.

10. Install and support database software

11. Address space management issues

12. Create, unlock, and reset database accounts in Development and QA environments

13. Perform database platform qualifications

14. Patch and upgrade database software and databases

15. Perform database monitoring in Development and QA environments

16. Setup and monitor regular database backups in Development and QA environments

17. Perform database recoveries in Development and QA environments

18. Creates and maintains schema objects

19. Analyze storage management and capacity planning needs of database environments

20. Gather and apply essential security requirements

21. Oversee Lifecycle Management of database servers

22. Design and implement a database cluster which meets data availability, recovery, security and auditing requirements including failover procedure testing

23. Performs database re-organizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment consists mostly of office setting, computer room operations, customer sites, customer workstation areas. Will be required to lift heavy objects such as monitors, PC equipment, test equipment, routers and switches or other equipment weighing up to 70 pounds. Will be required to pull cables, climb ladders, reach and pull cables and equipment, crawl to assess equipment under desks and other hard to reach locations.
