The Charles River product suite incorporates a modern technical architecture to support the front and middle-office needs of global financial organizations. The architecture consists of C# and .NET front-end, J2EE middle-tier, Web Services, RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server), XML messaging, and web reporting.

Our company is still rapidly growing. We are currently expanding the capabilities of our products in a number of key areas, as well as working on brand new initiatives. We are in need of several Senior, Principal, or hands-on Architect level developers to work on the middle tier (Java) and GUI (C#) development of the Charles River IMS.
All positions are full-time, permanent opportunities offering excellent compensation. We employ 120+ of the top engineers in the software industry so this is an opportunity to work within a very strong, senior level engineering team and help to develop challenging new products in the financial space. Positions involve very senior level development work helping to build functionality for the system (across all asset classes) as well as new product development. Positions are located in Burlington, MA headquarters.
General Requirements:
- MUST possess a BS or MS in Computer Science or related, ideally from a top university/school.
- Seven or more years of commercial software development, proficient in developing multi-tier solutions.
- Financial industry experience is ideal but not required. Any knowledge or experience with fixed income, derivatives, analytics, portfolio management, compliance, trading etc a huge plus.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), good interpersonal skills, ability to gather and understand complex requirements.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly to changes.
- Product delivery experience: have been key in developing and supporting large enterprise commercial software products which were sold to non-technical customers in vertical markets.
- Agile/scrum experience is preferred.
- Unit testing.
- Strong track record of full-time work.
- Sr. Individual Contributor or hands-on Architect level considered the top within their organization.
C# GUI (C#101):
- Technical experience includes strong C# GUI, ADO, SOAP, Threading, and SQL database programming.
- Strong with OO design and development.
- Minimum 2-3 years+ of C# experience focused on GUI windows forms (winforms).
- WPF experience is ideal.
Java (Java#101):
- Minimum 5 years of professional Java development experience.
- Technical experience includes very strong Java n-tier application experience.
- Experience with some of the following: Threading, Servlets, JMS, XML, XSL, HTTP, JDBC, JMX and SOAP; good understanding of performance issues.
- Hands-on experience with web services is ideal. C#/.NET also highly desirable.
- Strong SQL skills with considerable experience in at least one of: Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase.
- Experience with Tomcat, JBoss, Weblogic or Websphere
- Strong with OO design and development.
