Our client, a leading medical device manufacturer, has an immediate opening for a packaging project engineer. The engineer is responsible for identifying and executing equipment and materials selection projects for the packaging medical consumables. Will specify, procure, and complete projects to introduce new packaging equipment, reduce packaging cost and improve packaging systems. Will lead packaging equipment upgrades on existing equipment, manage capital equipment projects from concept through implementation, and provide technical knowledge of packaging materials and support operations with packaging material concerns.
Requirements:
BS in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering curriculum.
A minimum of three years of post-college experience in packaging design, specification or implementation in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
A minimum of three years experience in project leadership from initial concept through project completion.
Packaging Engineering experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
Experience must include hands-on experience with processes, materials and equipment. This position is the one stop shop for all packaging needs.
Experience with the follow materials is expected: top web materials (printed and unprinted, plastic and paper), bottom web materials (flexible and rigid, preformed and unformed), corrugate, paper board, poly bags, ink and labels.
Experience with the following packaging equipment is expected: form/fill/seal, stretch wrap, case sealer, material handling, label printers and print and apply systems, case erectors, tray sealers, labelers, and bag heat sealers.
