ROLE OBJECTIVE: Develop new medical products to support the Medical Market business plan

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Develop new products for the Medical Business from laboratory testing to commercial scale-up

- Initiate, plan, and execute R&D work in line with business objectives and report in a timely manner

- Interface closely with marketing and sales to develop and improve products for medical applications 

- Interface with outside vendor and customers to define project goal and product requirements

- Interface with other divisions, to capitalize on capabilities within the company.

- Serve as technical specialist to support marketing, sales and manufacturing as needed

- Supervise and develop one technician to support the research and development activities

- Be an effective Medical Team member and build positive relationships across organizational boundary

- Support divisional safety programs

- Support divisional ISO certification efforts

Minimum Requirements :        KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

MUSTS

- Technical Degree BS (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, or Polymer Science). Advanced degree preferred.

- Experience with medical applications and/or medical device design and manufacturing

- Goals driven and results oriented, ability to drive projects to completion

- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

- Strong time management and prioritization skills

- Good oral communication, organization, and writing skills

- Strong interpersonal skills. Willingness to interface with internal and external people in multiple disciplines for efficient and seamless product development

- Entrepreneurial spirit / Can-do attitude

- Team player with leadership skills

- High energy level, creative, innovative

- Customer focus

- Able to travel on as needed basis

WANT

- Experience with medical converting processes a plus

- Experience in a medical education environment a plus

- Knowledge and/or experience in pressure sensitive adhesive formulation and coating

- Track record in successful product development and commercialization

- Proven project management skills, knowledge of Six Sigma of Lean Sigma tools.
