Position Description:

Apple Professional Services Integration Services team has an opening for a technical position supporting a large K-12 education customer in the New York/New Jersey Metro Area.

This Technical Services Consultant position is part of a larger delivery organization that is specifically responsible for implementation architecture, installation, configuration and integration of Apple products into heterogeneous network environments.

This position will serve as the Apple subject matter expert as part of the School District's team supporting Apple servers, desktops and notebooks throughout the city school district.

The successful candidate will live within regular commuting distance via automobile of New York City and will be hard working, positive, team-oriented, resourceful, and have the ability, desire and motivation to learn and to teach others.

This position will be initially based at a customer site in Union City (Hudson County), NJ for approximately 1 year from the date of hire with the possibility for extension. Approximately 10-15% overnight travel may be required. Should the duration of the project NOT be extended, this position will convert to a home office based position as a member of a team with national responsibilities and approximately 60-70% overnight travel may be required.

This position will be specifically responsible for:

-- Serving as a technical subject matter expert for Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server and Xsan.

-- Developing and maintaining Mac OS X system images for multi-purpose labs, including those used with Xsan, Final Cut Pro, and Final Cut Server.

-- Assisting in the deployment of Apple hardware, Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server at school sites.

-- Assisting in the research and development of technical how-to documentation via PDFs, web pages, and podcasts

-- Working with the district Director of Technology to ensure technical readiness for Apple Professional Development and other events throughout the city.

-- Participating in internal and external conference calls to provide status updates on current initiatives, outstanding escalations, and future plans.

-- Working with AppleCare and Apple Software Engineering to make sure that hardware and software issues that are affecting the School District are appropriately represented.

-- Assisting in creating scripts, packages and developing custom applications to support the district installed base.


Education and Experience Required

-- A BA/BS degree strongly preferred and attainment is an important criteria for advancement within Apple.

-- 6+ years professional experience deploying Mac OS X, Windows Server 2000/2003, or Linux into heterogenous network environments.

-- 3+ years of scripting/development experience at or above the System Administrator level with one or more of the following tools: PackageMaker, AppleScript, AppleScript Studio, Cocoa, perl, ruby, python, or UNIX shell is required.

-- 2+ years of system administration experience with Mac OS X Server v10.4 or higher is required.

--JAMF Casper and Xsan experience preferred.

-- ACSA v10.5 or higher certification or an ability to obtain within 30 days of hire via self-study. Candidate must obtain ACMA v10.6 certification via self-study within 60 days as a condition of employment.

-- Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The successful candidate must excel in written communication and possess excellent phone-based and in-person support skills.

-- An ability to establish respect, trust, and a rapport with not only peer Engineers, but also school district personnel.

-- Able to submit to all criminal background checks as required by the State of New Jersey for public school employees and contractors and receive appropriate clearances as a condition of employment.
