Job Title: Sr. Project Engineer

Job Location: Afghanistan

Overview: Abacus Technology is in need of a Project Engineer to act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all efforts related network and communications systems.  This position would be supporting the US government in Afghanistan.  Special housing, travel, and hospitality benefits as well as incentive bonuses and awards are available.

Major Duties & Responsibilities: Design, engineer, and install any and all commercial or tactical communication systems.  Supervise the engineering, installation, and quality assurance of all communication projects.  Act as the primary technical point of contact (POC) for all network and telephony equipment.  Participate in planning and execution of immediate and long-term projects, network expansion and integration with other customer networks.  Support the maintenance of wiring, including copper (network and telephony), coax, and fiber optic cabling.  Coordinate with other military and civilian Agencies or groups to contribute to the successful completion of larger tasks. 

Qualifications: 10 years experience in design and implementation of communication systems.  Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.  Must have extensive experience with commercial wiring including copper, coax, and fiber optics.  Familiar with both inside and outside plant wiring.  Must know how to pull, terminate, patch, and splice cable for both indoor and outdoor uses.  Extensive knowledge in direct burial cable, manhole and ducting systems and a working knowledge of Installation, Information, Infrastructure Modernization Program (I3MP) standards.
