Note –there is no relocation assistance for this position.
 


POSITION PURPOSE: 
The Sr. Project Manager will be expected to manage internal and external resources including partners, vendors and licensee relationships in order to publish digital game application titles for one of the Wizards of the Coast core brands, Dungeons & Dragons.
 
This person will challenged to function in a dynamic environment, expected to hit the ground running by utilizing your industry knowledge and your problem solving talents to effectively deliver application titles on time and on budget.
 
 
JOB DUTIES
 
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:

Interface and communicate effectively with developers, Brand Management, Tech Services, R & D as well as external partners, vendors and licensees on a regular basis
Work with internal and external resources to create in- depth game design documents and develop realistic production schedules with detailed milestones
Manage workflow and resource scheduling for the gaming developers team, QA, Build Engineering and graphic artists team
Support P/L responsibility and building financial models as well as manage budgets up to $2 million
Make day-to-day decisions on product content and design based on input from key stakeholders
Gather input and provide accurate game quality evaluations and detailed recommendations
Review and QA products for spec requirements, quality, and progress
Report product development status and manage release activities to upper management
Remain aware of current market trends within the Console, PC and online gaming space, including patterns and customer requirements, in the U.S. and other countries. Be able to use this knowledge to work on new and innovative products
Participate with Development Manager to enforce best practices  software development methodology and ensure it is properly documented and stored in departmental workflow repository
Game and Development requirements management for online games and subsequent version releases

 
Secondary Functions:

Manages the expectations and careers of their team.
Manages and mentors junior managers, leads, and other team members.
Plans budgetary items such as headcount, hardware, and software.
Manages cost centers, including budget planning, allocation, contracts, vendors, and change management in compliance with published corporate financial standards.
Provides reasonable estimates of time and materials required to complete project vision and scope goals outlined by Producers and Senior Management.

 
Process

Drives the use of standards.
Participate in business process review and redesign.
Implements and tracks related process improvement efforts.
Identifies and communicates organizational and process solutions to mitigate risks.
Provides input to Project/Program Managers.
Establishes processes and work assignments.
Implements and evangelizes industry standard methods and techniques.
Identifies leading-edge techniques and methodologies for their area of expertise.
Serves as liaison with other teams’ business and technical management. 
Submits weekly and monthly communiqués to immediate supervisor

 
Project

Manages work to meet deliverables and deadlines.
Identifies and prioritizes the key issues that need to be addressed for projects to succeed.
Works closely with other managers and project leads to ensure that the entire project life cycle is a quality process.
Works with the project team to plan and produce quality deliverables.
Leads staff working with cross-functional teams to ensure successful requirements management for the project.
Assigns and supervises delegated tasks.
Assists with prioritizing deliverable requests.
Works with teams to identify, analyze and resolve project problems.
Conducts progress and deliverable reviews during development and adjusts scope and schedule accordingly.
Supervises/develops requirements and specifications.

 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Training:

BA or BS preferred. MBA or Masters is ideal. However, five or more years of game industry or technology production experience would be an acceptable substitution.
Experience with requirements analysis, software development, databases, hardware, quality assurance, and technology operations.
Experience reconciling iterative software development with a waterfall project methodology (network, infrastructure, or widely cross-functional) is highly desirable.
As a Producer/Tech Project Manager, successfully shipped at least 3-5 console or PC titles. Or deployed a similar number of systems and in house applications.
2-4 years working as a Producer, or similar, managing an external development team.
2-4 years business development or licensor/licensee relations experience.
2-4 years experience with project budgetary processes, profit, loss, and return on investment is necessary.
Experience with an asset control system such as CVS or Perforce is necessary.
Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project or similar is required.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent communication skills, in order to work closely and effectively with many internal and external groups.
Presentation skills, preparing content, and experience presenting to a variety of audiences, including senior management
Familiar with standard project accounting procedures, including budgets, Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and pro forma financial analysis.
Expert knowledge of industry standard Project Management methods, especially as they apply to software development
Aggressiveness in finding new ways to problem-solve and work through resolutions. Is able to hold others accountable for their work product.
The ability and confidence to proactively approach the product, anticipating and solving problems before they detrimentally affect the project.
Organizational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks across multiple products
Serves as an overall subject matter expert in the SDLC and Project Management knowledge areas
Risk-analysis, management, estimation, planning and decision-analysis skills
