Job description:



Silver Spring Networks (SSN) is currently recruiting for Project
Managers (PM) for positions located around the country.



 



We
are a venture-backed company that has gained solid traction with electric, gas
and water utility companies and suppliers worldwide. Using open,
standards-based networking infrastructure technologies, we build hardware and
software products that extend utility companies’ networks to the customer’s
location to gather and send information in real-time. This enables critical
command, control, and information functions, helping our customers meet the
demands of a changing business climate, without imposing on the environment by
building more power plants.



 



What you will be doing:



This position will work in the Customer Operations
department and lead all aspects of an assigned SSN project and will report to a
Regional Project Manager. The PM must have the ability to work independently to
perform radio frequency range/coverage testing, supervise/program/troubleshoot
SSN network component installations and assist in the management of customer
relationships during pilot and rollout efforts. 
The PM will also be responsible for performing system diagnostics to
identify and resolve SSN network problems and train others in the installation
and use of the SSN system. The PM may be called upon to interface with internal
customers (Sales, Marketing and Product Development organizations in
particular) on product and systems improvements.



Essential functions:



  • Perform field site
    surveys prior to project deployment to assess best radio network equipment
    placement.
  • Interface with customer
    and contractor installation teams during installation.  Work with and support outside
    contractors and customer installers to ensure project deployment
    timeliness and quality. Assist in documentation of project objectives,
    actions and as-completed materials.
  • Supervise on-going
    project deployment activities for the assigned customer.
  • Train installers for
    meter end-point and network devices, and related SSN software.
  • Assist as needed in all
    phases of deployment of a project.
  • Participate in project
    status meetings with customers and SSN management as part of project
    deployment.  Document and
    communicate all project issues, potential solutions and recommended
    actions to Regional Project Manager.
  • Must be knowledgeable
    of project scope and contract requirements, customer union contracts (if
    applicable), training programs, local and national rules and FCC
    regulations related to project activities.
  • Identify and recommend
    improvements to operating standards, policies, procedures and equipment
    related to SSN projects to increase efficiency, improve consistency of
    operating standards, decrease operating costs and improve overall customer
    satisfaction.
  • Participate in
    industry-related training programs and other self-improvement programs
    each year.
  • Prepare individual
    quarterly performance goals.


Qualifications:



·        
Demonstrated
analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.



·        
Ability
to travel as much as 80% of the time, principally in North
America
; some international travel may be required.



·        
Technical
training and knowledge of radio frequency test equipment used in planning and
installing radio network equipment and multiple wired/wireless wide area
networks.



·        
Experience
and knowledge of gas, water and electric utility meter reading and related
distribution automation technologies is desirable.



·        
Experience
in personal computer operations and use of word processing, project management,
spreadsheet programs plus experience with off-the-shelf and special-purpose
test programs. Experience with GIS, CIS and other utility systems are highly
desirable.



·        
Demonstrated
ability to manage the selection, hiring and training of field service
contractors.



·        
Ability
to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks using Microsoft Project and
Project Insight, the two principal management tools used by SSN for internal
and customer projects.



·        
Must
possess above average written and verbal communication skills.



·        
Possess
a valid driver’s license and a US
passport.
