About the Job
Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc. (EMD) is a fully integrated locomotive supplier. The company's headquarters, engineering facilities and parts-manufacturing operations are located in LaGrange, Illinois, just west of Chicago. Final assembly is conducted at EMD's state-of-the-art plant at London, Ontario, from which EMD products are exported to customers around the world.
EMD is also a global provider of aftermarket parts and services, as well as diesel power engines for marine propulsion, offshore and land based oil well drilling rigs, and stationary power generation
The Key Job Elements Include:
-Designs field solutions for implementation of engineering/customer engineering design changes
- Audits documents and drawings for accuracy and completeness
- Validates engineering/ customer engineering solutions through real world field application and recommends changes to solutions as required
- Addresses safety issues in the design and application of engineering concepts
- Provides technical assistance and resolves problems with engineered solutions
- Produces technical job instructions
- Audits Mod process for improvement/cost savings opportunities
- Supervises third party direct labor and performs frequent audits
- Develop program workscopes and negotiate labor rates with vendors
- Assist in program cost reconciliation and chargeback customer
- Forecasting, planning and tracking complex material at multiple off property repair locations
- Provides monthly and add hoc reports through using the modification database
- Drive business process improvement activities through the organization
- Regular contact with executive levels of our customers to provide modification status
Qualifications (Required):
- College degree with a major in Engineering or Business or equivalent training;
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others;
- Supervisory Experience;
- Above average communication skills;
- Knowledge of product and manufacturing processes;
- Above average troubleshooting skills;
- Ability to travel as needed;
-Basic understand of finance, purchasing and accrual concepts
- Experience with MS office
- Able to read mechanical blueprints, GD&T, gauging and machining background.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Access
-M.B.A.
-Understanding of EMD internal business processes
- Understanding and ability to implement 5S in the manufacturing process;
- 6 Sigma Green or Black Belt;
- Welding and fabrication experience;
- ISO 9001 experience;
