Our client is a robotics firm located in Pittsburgh. They have an immediate need for a Senior Robotics Specialist with experience related to autonomous vehicles or systems. This position requires individuals who have direct hands-on experience in leadership, design, development, and testing of robotics systems, and who have significant depth of knowledge in at least two core areas related to autonomous ground mobile robotic vehicles.
This position is focused on motion planning and control from imperfect perception for an autonomous ground mobile robotic vehicle, operating in non-ideal conditions, such as poor positioning and waether/lighting conditions. The ideal candidate would have extensive experience with multiple technical approaches in these areas and would have at least some experience with technical leadership of small groups of engineers developing systems in these areas.
Requires formal education or training, superior problem-solving skills, and independent decision-making abilities. Both independent and team-oriented work will be required. The ability to work in a team setting and to interface successfully with external suppliers, external sponsors, and industrial partners will be important in this job.
The ideal candidate will also have good mechanical aptitude, and some experience with automotive repair (hobby), or robotics club experience.
Requirements:
MS Computer Science or related Engineering discipline. Ph.D. preferred.
Minimum 3 years experience with some combination of motion planning, scheduling, control, obstacle detection and classification, mult-sensor fusion localization or similar robotics related technology.
5 years experience in C/C++ programming in Linux / Unix.
Prior experience in team setting. Team lead experience desired.
Experience with technologies such as Python, Lisp, Haskell, Matlab a plus.
