There is an immediate opening for a Sr. Safety Specialist within our Catalyst, Adsorbents and Specialties Business at our Chickasaw, Alabama site. This position will have accountability for the implementation of the maintenance work process including the use of global tools and the application of most effective technology. The individual is accountable for achieving function goals, establishing financial plans that are consistent with the business needs, and supplying best in class maintenance service through the use of effective leveraging of resources.


 


Responsibilities


 


  • Accountable for identifying, developing, and achieving departmental goals, ensuring appropriate linkage between SBU/Corp. function, department and subordinate goals

  • Develops and implements programs to ensure the protection of employees while maintaining full compliance with applicable government regulations, permits, UOP HS&E policies and local procedures

  • Provide safety and health technical support for the facility

  • Develops and updates lesson plans and CBT's in support of training for employees in safety and health related matters

  • Conduct Contractor Process Safety Management Training for contractors

  • Personal Protective Equipment implementation and compliance that includes training, PPE assessments, upkeep of PPE Matrix, ensure proper safety signage, and assisting in the upkeep and monitoring of Atmosphere Monitors

  • Conduct Weekly Life Critical Compliance Audits - track and trend monthly performance, ensure the site meets or exceeds Corporate auditing expectations, develop monthly Life Critical Performance Reports, develop strategy planning to address any compliance issues, conduct single point lessons where appropriate, develop lesson plans and refresher training based on findings

  • Structured Safety Process, including but not limited to maintaining SSP performance matrix, conducting SSP binder audits, distributing SSP updates, agendas, and communications, developing Shift Starter Safety Topics, monitoring trends within TIPPS software and communicating actions and countermeasures, and issuing SSP recognition

  • Manage Omnisafe HS&E incident tracking system by inputting incident investigations, tracking action items to completion, and providing training and technical support as necessary

  • Conduct routine audits of Contractor Safety Training programs ensuring Honeywell compliance

  • Complete weekly Maintenance Work Notifications stemming from Site Leadership, Corporate HSE, GRC, and Security audits

  • Assist in performing Pre Start Up Safety Reviews with Maintenance and Capital Management

  • Manage updates to all permits, safety handbooks (contractor/new hire), maps, tags, etc. between UOP and the publisher ·· Manage Mobile's Powered Industrial lift Truck Program (e.g. conduct re-certifications, refresher training, random compliance audits, etc.)


Basic Qualifications


 


  • Minimum of  2 years experience in a manufacturing environment assisting in safety compliance

  • Bachelors Degree

Preferred Qualifications


 


  • Degree in Safety or Related Field preferred

  • Strong knowledge of continuous and batch chemical manufacturing processes

  • Knowledge of Regulatory Compliance for OSHA, NFPA, State and Local governments

  • Experience developing and implementing safety and health systems

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office software applications, and either SAP or an automated Work Order system
