Sr. Staff Castings Engineer, (x3) Direct, Relocation, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin
Our client develops and manufactures consumer products utilized in the finalized construction of buildings.
The Sr. Staff Castings Engineer is responsible for the strategic implementation and standardization of practices for manufacturing and processing special and other non-ferrous metals. The Sr. Staff Castings Engineer ensures consistency of engineering practices, processes, quality, and documentation for local and global operations.
· Work closely with advanced materials departments and manufacturing/processing departments to ensure new metal processes and products can be implemented at local and global facilities.
· Considers safety, quality and time to market as well as target costs. Works with operations and engineering managers to achieve standards throughout metal processing factories.
· Develop and document strategies for metal manufacturing providing balance of quality, delivery and cost.
· Engage in all engineering cycles (initial to final) with local new product development teams to achieve margin, time to market (TTM) & performance targets at launch and maintain margin and performance throughout the life cycle.
· Participate in design reviews providing DFMA (Design for Manufacturing & Assembly).
· Recommend Component and Product Rationalization based upon process limitations.
· Ensure equipment and process readiness prior to kick off of a project.
· Ensure metal processes are capable, ready and proven prior to new product launches.
· Provide capacity planning, capital equipment recommendations and implementation partnership with the plant Operations Engineering teams.
· Remain up-to-date on metal manufacturing best practices and recommend new approaches and tools.
· Recommend and deploy advancements of manufacturing technologies, improving cost and quality for both internal and supplied processes.
· 5 – 10 years metal process engineering experience
· Req. Engineering/Manufacturing experience at a high volume/global capacity
· Pref. advanced knowledge or casting experience of aluminum, brass, magnesium, and/or zinc
A Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Science, or Technology
· Pref. Masters’ Degree in Engineering or Science
Approximately 20% (national and international).
