Also, we provide large-scale information processing, information integration and visualization systems for intelligence, satellite and space-based programs for commercial and DoD customers Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer I Job Description: Systems Engineer in the C3S Segment Engineering of the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS). The NPOESS program is developing the next generation weather satellite system. Raytheon is developing the Command, Control, and Communications Segment (C3S), the Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS), and the Field Terminal Segment (FTS). This position is on the C3 Segment Integration team, with opportunities to support Factory and Site Integration activities, as well as participate in C3S design and development activities. C3S integration is responsible for integrating and deploying all hardware and software for the NPOESS C3S. Responsibilities include: - Physical and functional integration, checkout and installation of all NPOESS C3S software and hardware for: 1 mission management center, 4 processing locations, one primary commanding site & one backup commanding site, 16 global receptor locations and multiple support locations - Support Integration & Test Plan Development - Support Facilities Implementation Plan Development - Factory Integration & Checkout, including SW spiral integration activities - Development of integration sequences, procedures, checklists and tracking data forms - Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems. - Contribute to the completion of project/program milestones under the general guidance of his/her immediate supervisor. - Follow established SE processes and procedures. - Support the development, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment, or subsystem level), external and internal interfaces, and other systems engineering work products/artifacts. Required Skills: BS degree in AE, SE, EE, CS, ME, Physics, Math plus 4+ years of work experience related to systems engineering, OR, 12 years of equivalent work experience related to systems engineering if non-degreed Strong system engineering/analytical/problem solving skills in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical information into understandable pieces. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with all levels of the organization including other IPTs. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and communication skills. Occasional travel required. US Citizenship with the ability to obtain an SSBI security clearance. Desired Skills: Recent experience in systems engineering and integration. Background in satellite command, control and communications, security engineering, and/or network architecture highly desired. Knowledge of satellite ground systems, including hardware, software, communications architecture. Experience in a satellite operations environment. Familiarity with structured analysis and design methodologies, object-oriented analysis and design methodologies. Experience with NPOESS O&S process Previous experience on the NPOESS C3 Segment, with knowledge of Segment design and OPSCONs. Familiarity with the NPOESS C3 Segment Requirements and child subsystem requirements Experience managing time and resources to meet assigned deadlines. Knowledge of SE roles and functions, including operations concept development, requirements management, functional analysis, interface definition and control, synthesis, verification and validation Experience in writing and running integration sequences on NPOESS C3S HW and SW Experience with troubleshooting and problem resolution Experience integrating a Network or SW / HW system Experience with creating and managing technical baselines consisting of specifications, interfaces, designs and engineering drawings. Experience with cost estimation and bid model creation Experience working with a geographically dispersed engineering team. Technical leadership experience and in providing inputs to line management on team members. Qualified Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist or equivalent. Education Requirement: BS degree in AE, SE, EE, CS, ME, Physics, Math . Equivalent systems engineering work experience will be considered if non-degreed.
