Job Description:
The Mission Support Specialist (Senior Systems Engineer II) is the responsible party for the liaison between an operational position and its internal and external customers, partners and management. The candidate is expected to provide subject matter expertise in the realm of resource and mission management.
- Responsible for supporting all aspects of operations
- Provides direction to operations associates based on technical policies and procedures
- Interprets and executes polices and procedures pertaining to operational tasks
- Recommends modifications to operating policies
- Monitors daily operations and actively assists or provides direction and guidance to operations when it is required
- Provides feedback to colleagues and customers
- Oversees technical training and certification for respective operational area
- Investigates trouble reports and system anomalies
- Supports testing of prototype system interfaces and coordination
- Pre-coordinating coverage of impending events
- Interfaces with internal and external divisions and provides assessment and support as required
- Provides situational awareness and expertise to operational crews
- Manages databases
- Coordinates with customers on a daily basis
- Assists the Operations Support Manager as required
- This position is typically a traditional day schedule, but s/he must be willing to work non-traditional hours (shift work) to fill in for operational positions that operate on a 24 hours per day / 7 days per week, 12 hour shift schedule as required
- Position is a two year tour with multiple tours possible.
- Work location is at Alice Springs, Australia.

Basic Qualifications - Required Experience, Skills:
- Bachelors degree in applicable engineering subject, or equivalent work experience, plus six or more years applicable work experience.
- Three or more years of experience in resource management
- Three or more years of experience in mission management
- Six or more years of progressively more responsible experience in the related field
- Strong communications skills and a proven ability to work with internal and external partners and customers in a virtual teaming environment
- Proven mentoring and training skills
- The ability to provide quality reports and briefs as required
- The ability to work with little supervision and to adapt to duties as they change
- The applicant will have achieved certification as a Mission Services Operator or it'™s equivalent
- While the standard schedule for this position is a day shift, s/he must be willing and able to work non-traditional hours (shift work) to fill in for operational positions that operate on a 24x7, 12 hour shift schedule as required. This includes working nights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Must be able to distinguish the difference between colors on a computer monitor (specifically red, blue, white and green).
- Individual and eligible dependents must successfully pass medical and psychological examinations prior to being selected for the position.
- Individual and eligible dependents must have the ability to satisfy requirements for applicable visas to work and/or reside in Australia
- U.S. or Australian citizenship is required
- Requires an active or current (active within the last five years) TS/SCI SSBI or Top Secret PV security clearance.
Desired Experience, Skills, Knowledge:
- A current and active TS/SCI SSBI security clearance is a significant advantage.
- Experience working in real-time decision making environment is preferred.
- Typically prior military experience proves quite helpful.
- Experience working in direct support of customers is also beneficial.
- Experience controlling data flow in a methodical and disciplined manner.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Experience participating effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
