The Planet is seeking a Sr. VMware Administrator to join our team in Houston. The Sr. VMware Administrator will be responsible for:
- Deploy and maintain complex VMware environments
- Work with customers/vendors on configuration of features and functionality
- Train and mentor Jr. administrators in best practices and internal processes
- Assist with change management and documentation of environments
- Work with dedicated team to ensure success of select customer group
- Ensure customer uptime through precise monitoring implementations, good change management and incorporation of best practices
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 past years of VMware design, implementation, and support
- Minimum 5 years of Windows and Linux system administration and architecture design (expert on one platform and competent on the other)
- Understanding of Windows application environments
- Configuration and troubleshooting of Window’s platform technologies - IIS, MS SQL, AD, .NET
- Clustering and high-availability environments
- Backup and disaster recovery best practices
- Understanding of Linux application environments
- Configuration and troubleshooting of Linux’s platform technologies - Apache, MySQL, LDAP, J2EE
- Clustering and high-availability environments
- Backup and disaster recovery best practices
- Excellent customer services skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Experience in hosting company or technology call center a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science desired
- Strong understanding VMware technologies and supporting frameworks
- Ability to motivate themselves and their team to do what is right by the customer
