Immediate Opening:  Staff Accountant

SUMMARY

 

The position of Staff Accountant is responsible for independent performance of professional accounting and administrative duties within the company’s accounting department. This position is required to utilize an experienced understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in conjunction with problem solving and technical skills to accurately perform the required work with limited direction and minimal supervision. The company encourages a team environment and the role of Staff Accountant has substantial interaction with the members of other departments in addition to the accounting and finance group. 

 

                                                                     JOB DUTIES

 

  • Prepares client invoices in each billing cycle and provides backup support for key staff and clerical positions.
  • Tracks and ensures invoice preparation for extraneous billable items (consulting time, expenses reimbursements, etc.)
  • Ad-hoc design and implementation of billing systems and/or supporting ledgers as directed.
  • Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts, including the development of supporting schedules and sub-ledgers in accordance with accounting best practices.
  • Uses judgment and professional skills to determine the appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions, and reports as needed. 
  • Implements accounting requirements for new clients.
  • Manages the accounting set-up and integration of new channels of business.
  • Is responsible for the accurate preparation and delivery of records required for external financial or compliance audits.
  • Examines and provides recommendations to management on internal controls.

 

                                                                             

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 

·         Bachelors degree with an emphasis in accounting or finance.

·         Preference for Professional Certification combined with experience (CPA, CMA)

 

                                             EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

·         3 to 5 years significant accounting experience demonstrating a broad knowledge base in accounting operations.

·         Microsoft Access and Excel proficiency – Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Access preferred.

·         Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) and / or FRX reporting experience helpful.

·         PBM or Healthcare industry experience a plus
