Staff Accountant
This position will perform moderately complex monthly closing activities to support the business units and finance teams. Activities include ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of data input, close process monitoring, reporting, variance analysis and problem resolution, interpret and point out trends or deviations to ensure accuracy of financial records. Responsibilities will include the following: Examine a variety of accounting documents to verify accuracy of computations and to ascertain that all transactions are properly supported, are in accordance with pertinent internal policies and procedures, and are classified and recorded in accordance with GAAP and other acceptable accounting standards. Identify deviations to policy and procedure and articulate key issues, ramifications and basic recommendations to management. Compile, complete and analyze financial data / statements, including, but not limited to, Profit and Loss Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements. Maintain Accounts Payable module of Oracle multi-environment ledger system integrity and controls. Participate in system, business process change and reporting improvement initiatives, and special projects. Requires Bachelor’s degree, accounting degree (preferred) or finance. Minimum 4 years accounting (preferred) or finance experience. Strong PC skills, specifically Microsoft applications including Word and Excel. Familiarity with, automated integrated systems (Oracle, SAP, JDE, etc) required. Oracle experience highly preferred. Solid understanding of accounting, financial and business concepts and corporate accounting policies and procedures is needed. Requires knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance legislation and the ability to develop and apply what is required from SOX guidelines. Must be able to work a flexible schedule during peak periods.
