Staff Accountant

Job Description

Modis is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for a 90 day temp to perm position with our client located in Vienna, VA.

Deltek GCS Premiere experience is A MUST – 2 plus years

Responsibilities
 
Description
The Staff Accountant will be an integral member of the accounting team in the processing of accounts payable, travel expense reports, employee reimbursements, corporate credit card processing and other duties as assigned. The candidate will have strong experience Deltek's GCS Premier accounting system.

This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Administers accounts payable including establishing vendors, processing payments, verifying corporate invoices and maintaining system records and payables files,
* Review, code and process Employee Expense Reports for Local and Long Distance Travel, in addition to processing Travel Advances
* Code, review and reconcile AMEX and Visa credit card accounts
* Analyze assigned accounts, prepare general ledger account reconciliations, and determine proper accounting treatment on monthly basis.
* Assist external auditors at year end with preparing schedules with explanations and supporting materials, and preparing any other necessary data
* Perform other related duties as assigned and assist in special projects as needed.
 
Skills Required
 
Basic Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with minium of 3 years of experience in a government contracting business environment preferred. Or an equivalent combination of education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Basic knowledge in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and has knowledge of unallowable costs and cost allocations
Proficient with Deltek GCS Premier Software
Proficient in Excel and the Internet
High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical thinking skills
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work successfully on multiple tasks simultaneously with interruptions
Demonstrates the ability to provide professional customer service when interacting with all levels of staff, vendors and customers
Able to work independently 
 
Skills Preferred
 
Experience with SharePoint preferred but not required
