Staff Electromechanical Engineer Direct, Relocation
Our client develops and manufactures consumer products utilized in finalized constructions of buildings.
The Staff Electromechanical Engineer will act as a resource concerning matters of electromechanical systems design and integration, often planning, scheduling, and coordinating major design and development activities.
· Oversee progress of project engineering teams concerning development of electromechanical products.
· Apply experience in electromechanical design, technical innovation, concept creation, statistical quality tools, physical component analysis, testing, and code compliance to resolve complex problems.
· Determines technical feasibility of product concepts. Prepares detailed project plans including technical objectives and approaches, schedule plans, project cost estimates, and product cost analyses.
· Performs engineering design, analysis and testing for a wide range of mechanical and electromechanical products and subassemblies.
· Hands on engineering involvement in design and test. Use analysis tools such as FEA and CFD to optimize designs. Correlates predictive and actual results. Develops tools for more efficient analyses.
· Designs products that integrate controls, sensors, actuators, mechanisms, and electronics in a cost and performance Systems Engineering perspective.
· Develops technologies that can be applied across multiple product platforms; develops new viable product concepts for proposed applications; and develops and delivers technical presentations targeted for specific audiences including executive management and external customers.
· Designs to global industry and government standards.
· Keeps abreast of new technologies and products relative to the electronics and plumbing industries. Identifies new technologies and the relative impact to company’s product vision.
· Advances recognized leading edge technologies. Fosters an environment of innovation in others.
· Willing and successful in taking appropriate risk with long term or strategic consequences.
· Directs and coordinates all work by engineers, support personnel, and outside groups involving design, development, drafting, prototype construction, and test and evaluation of product concepts. Works closely with project groups to assure smooth transition to production.
· Counsels and trains less senior engineers and technical support personnel in technical areas as required. Demonstrates and leads best practices.
· Maintains project records and prepares technical, cost, and other reports to show project progress.
· 5 to 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
· Expertise in mechanical design (mechatronics including actuators, sensors, electrical controllers, etc.).
· Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD, Pro/Engineer or Creo pref.), Finite Element Analysis (FEA, Pro/Mechanica or ANSYS pref.), and [hydraulic] Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
· Knowledge in electronics instrumentation, testing, circuit board layout, and microcontroller firmware code development, networking and microprocessor-based control design preferred.
· Experience applying Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), [Design] Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA/DFMEA) and Quality Functional Deployment (QFD).
· Background, training or education in project or engineering management.
