The Staff Engineer is a full time position based in New Freedom, PA. 

This position is responsible for the conceptual development, mathematical analysis, detailed design, and overall performance of variable speed air cooled screw chiller components and systems, including providing support to the laboratory, production, service, applications, and marketing teams located globally. This position will report to the Engineering Manager in the Variable Speed Air Cooled Screw Chiller Product Engineering Department.


What you will do

•Use standard and advanced technical and mathematical principles, theories, concepts, techniques, processes, and best practices in field.

•Investigate, determine, and analyze chiller components and systems design requirements; then conceptualize, develop, and implement overall optimized solutions.

•Establish test criteria, participate in laboratory testing, analyze data to identify chiller performance characteristics, and create solutions to improve performance, reliability, operating envelope, and cost.

•Work closely with the design and drafting group to create chiller layout concepts and system configurations.

•Support laboratory, production, service, applications, and marketing teams located globally.

•Responsible for the on-time completion of projects.

•Generates technical documentation.

•Continuously increases expertise on all aspects of chiller theory, design, operation, manufacturing, applications, and regulatory codes such as ASHRAE, AHRI, UL, and CE.

•Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development and process environment.

•Adheres to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.

What you will need

•Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited).

•Minimum 8 years of applicable experience.

•Advanced degrees may be applied in lieu of experience.

•Expertise in electro-mechanical equipment design, operation, materials, and industrial processes.

•Skilled in developing mathematical formulas to predict chiller performance and analyzing results.

•Advanced knowledge of mechanical components and systems, such as metal structures and fluid flow.

•Strong mechanical aptitude.

•Thermodynamics knowledge desired.

•Strong time management and product development skills.

•Must be able to travel up to 15% including internationally.
