Role Summary/Purpose The Staff Engineer leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business and is a recognized as the technical expert in a specialized field. They are responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications; they resolve complex issues within functional area(s) of expertise; and they contribute to the overall business results. Essential Responsibilities • Provide technical consultation, leadership and direction to the power conversion design and development programs to ensure technical results are achieved. • Provide technical direction and support to other engineering design teams and mentoring junior engineers. Develop training packages for the junior engineers and technicians. This includes defining and developing product processes related to design, analysis, test, materials, manufacture, quality and/or productivity. • Provide leadership on assigned projects to ensure financial and contractual execution through established company procedures. • Actively participate in design reviews, bid reviews and safety inquiries as the technical expert in power conversion. • Provide direction and guidance on identifying and implementing new technology into product line. Support changing technology and anticipate, apply, adapt or develop solutions for the most complex customer issues. Contribute to multi-generational product and technology planning and define requirements for new development projects. • Interface with customers to resolve technical issues. Perform component level troubleshooting, failure analysis and corrective actions reports. • Interface directly with Business Development group to provide technical support and guidance during the Bid and Proposals process. Qualifications/Requirements • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience designing and developing high power (2KW-100KW) power conversion products such as AC-DC, DC-AC and DC-DC Converters.• Willingness and ability to travel 15% of the time. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Desired Characteristics Master Degree in Electrical Engineering. PhD is highly desirable.• Solid knowledge and proficiency of standard electrical engineering tools for schematic entry and simulation.• Familiarity with Military Standards and Requirements.• Strong Technical background designing high power multi-pulse magnetics and three-phase PFC circuitry.• Experience with low and high frequency,low and high power, magnetic component design.• Experience in battery charging, control and management.• Experience in design techniques for EMI/EMC compliance in accordance with MIL-STD-461 and DO-160.• Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.• Strong oral and written communication skills.
