AECOM is seeking a staff-level biologist/ecologist for our Colton, CA, Bakersfield, CA or Camarillo, CA office. Job duties include general field surveys for biological resources, sensitive species surveys, wetlands permitting (CWA, CDFG Section 1600), preparation of biological reports, sensitive species permitting, preparation and implementation of mitigation and restoration plans, and preparation of biological resources sections of CEQA and NEPA (strong ESA credentials preferred) and permitting processes. Existing clients include federal (Nationwide), state, and local government agencies.
The position requires familiarity with the flora and fauna of Southern California. The candidates should be capable of performing extensive fieldwork on potentially difficult terrain and during adverse weather conditions on field assignments ranging from several days, weeks, or months at a time, dependent upon the applicant’s availability and project workload. Good interpersonal skills, writing skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential.
Additional requirements include at a minimum a BS in a biological or environmental field, plus 2-5 years of consulting experience or combination of agency/consulting experience. Applicable advanced degrees and/or USFWS/CDFG permits and MOUs may substitute for years of experience. Knowledge of L.A. Basin, Orange County, Desert areas, Coastal & San Joaquin Valley will be essential depending on work location.
