Craig Herkert, CEO of SUPERVALU, unveiled plans to double the number of discount Save-A-Lot stores over the next five years, bringing the total to about 2,400. 'This is not an abandonment of traditional grocery; this is an acceleration of Save-A-Lot,' said Herkert, noting that the main business will remain traditional supermarkets, including Albertsons, Jewel-Osco and Farm Fresh.
