Summary: The Strategic Sourcing Buyer is responsible for managing the daily flow of requests between EDMC schools, corporate office departments and the procurement department to ensure the timely processing of the requests and generation of purchase orders. Also responsible for purchase order tracking, the receipt of goods, and the resolution of invoices that do no match the purchase orders.
Incumbent must assure that the EDMC philosophy: quality services to clients; development, growth, involvement, and recognition of employees; sound economic principles; and environment which is conducive to innovation, positive thinking and expansion - is considered in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Key Job Elements:
- Interface with campus locations and their leadership for any purchasing activity. Provide support to the schools for requisition system and general purchasing questions.
- Manage service type agreements and conduct front-end procurement activities, including evaluating quotations, verifying expenses and placing orders against national agreements
- Coordinate the review of all requests to ensure the appropriate paperwork and approval signature matrices are fulfilled. Expedite orders as requested.
- Generate purchase orders, place orders with suppliers and research/resolve differences between invoices and purchase orders.
- Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, loss, return of goods, over/under shipments, cancellations and changes.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Interacts With: EDMC Corporate Staff, key school personnel and suppliers
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge:
a) A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management or a minimum of three to five years of procurement and strategic sourcing experience.
b) Knowledge of accounting principles and practices as they apply to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Procurement.
c) Experience with ERP systems and web-based quoting packages preferred.
- Skills:
a) Excellent communication skills, including experience in preparing written and oral reports.
b) Strong interpersonal skills with supervisor and staff populations.
c) Superior organization, prioritization, customer service and self-motivation skills.
d) Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
e) Strong problem solving ability with keep attention to detail.
- Abilities:
a) Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
b) Ability to listen to customers (e.g. staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
c) Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
d) Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
