Goodrich Aerostructures Group, Chula Vista is currently seeking a Stress Engineers V to work in our P&PD (Product & Process Development) group, ideally experienced in traditional fundamentals and modern, computer-based analysis tools, with an eagerness to learn new technologies. Joining our diverse and highly accomplished engineering team, you'll work alongside some of the most exceptional professionals in the industry as you engage in complex, cutting-edge projects throughout their life cycle.



Key functions: Working in a product development environment, you will perform substantiation stress analysis on new innovative aerospace hardware and components for nacelle systems, generate certification reports in compliance with FAR requirements, and participate in Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and LEAN Events. Methods of analysis will include Classical Hand Calculations, Finite Element Modeling using tools such as NASTRAN & PATRAN. You'll also coordinate with internal and external customers through written and oral communication, consult with subject matter experts within our organization, develop schedules and handle related responsibilities as needed.



Once product moves from development to production, responsibilities evolve to include: substantiation and sustaining stress analysis for post-certification product enhancement, cost and weight reduction initiatives, resolution of production and field issues, Apollo root cause analysis, and reconciliation analysis of the nacelle components for aircraft/engine variants, load/flight envelope changes and design life extension.



Tools: Finite Element Analysis Tools (NASTRAN, PATRAN), classical hand analysis and relevant internal tools.

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 10 years' experience, or a Master's degree with 8 plus years' experience performing stress analysis.

* Experience in classical hand analysis methods used in aerospace applications, along with Finite Element Analysis Tools such as NASTRAN & PATRAN are highly preferred.

* Experience in aircraft structural components static, durability and damage tolerance analysis preferred.

* Experience of material (Composite & Metallic) or structural testing is preferred.

* Strong technical writing and PC skills.

* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
