DRS C3 & Aviation is seeking a dynamic individual as a Structural, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineer. This individual will provide support for Tinker AFB. This individual will work with the Air Force and required resources to achieve project objectives to include SOW requirements.
Position Summary
Senior engineer, structural, mechanical, or aerospace: Individual will provide aircraft structural engineering in support of the U.S. Air Force. The selected individual will support general depot level maintenance of E-3 aircraft and provide engineering support with regard to various projects of complex structural design, to include, but not limited to, aircraft structure for repair, modification, and upgrade of the airborne warning and command system (AWACS) E-3 platform during depot maintenance including accommodation of the block-40 mod, updating of computer hardware and architecture, modifications, renovations, design, development, and related aspects of maintaining the aircraft. Technical skills in all phases of aircraft structural design, complex blueprints and schematics, knowledge of computer hardware, renovations, and work with and update associated documentation and technical manuals, performing fundamental engineering duties, calculations, plans, and details. The individual will support and assist government engineers and managers in formulating designs, performing tests, taking measurements, and performing analyses for the customer. The aircraft structural engineer will work in and on the aircraft. The selected applicant must have experience in aircraft structure, preferably E-3.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties are diverse and variable related to depot maintenance of E-3 aircraft. Responsibilities will include providing technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering structure problems. Must Investigate and solve aircraft structure and system problems as identified during depot and field inspection. Must update or develop aircraft structure and systems related inspection and
repair procedures, limits, and materials. Must support PDM and operational aircraft. Must review service bulletins and service letters and provide engineering solutions to suggested aircraft changes to increase system reliability and maintainability and to promote aircraft safety. Must perform in all phases of structural engineering in design, development, integration, implementation, and analysis. Also, must plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for the design, improvement, modifications, and implementation of advanced technologies. Must continuously interface with government personnel and work closely with program management and other engineers in a concurrent engineering environment. May be required to provide guidance or directions to lower level technical personnel.
Basic Qualifications
Must possess Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Aeronautical Engineering with a focus in structural engineering. Must have minimum 6-10 years of experience in proven progressive complex design, development, modification, renovation, and upgrade of complex aircraft structure to include modeling and analysis. An understanding of aircraft structure, schematics, blueprints, graphics, airframe diagrams, and systems drawings. Familiarity with U.S. Air Force technical manuals is a plus.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge
Hands-on AWACS/E-3 structural experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, customer service oriented, team player. Ability to acquire and maintain a successful company- and government-background check and secret security clearance. Basic skills in CAD and 3D modeling.
