Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct supplier cost analysis activity for current and potential future suppliers
Communicate supplier cost analysis results and coordinate activities with Purchasing to develop optimal action plans
Develop reliable suppliers and assist in selecting new suppliers
Identify supplier capabilities and improvement opportunities by conducting on site assessments
Identify the performance improvement tools (e.g. cost benchmarking, value analysis, material value chain, and lean manufacturing concepts) that are most appropriate for a
particular supplier
Improve supplier performance in quality, service and price by conducting on site workshops
Ensure supplier understanding of the assessment/workshop process and the preparation required through briefings and communications prior to the on site activities
Monitor/accelerate supplier implementation of improvement plans resulting from the assessments/workshops through follow up measures
Support cross-functional teams and function as a liaison to additional supplier development/supplier quality resources
Regularly exchange information with others inside and outside the work group including supplier facilities
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of supplier manufacturing and engineering operations as they relate to quality, service and price
Advanced understanding of synchronous principles
Very high level of analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution where problems are complex
Highly proficient oral and written communication skills
High level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations and instruct others in new techniques
Ability to effectively organize and plan
Proficient in leading two or more of the following workshops: cost benchmarking, value management, material value chain or assessment
Highly skilled in negotiations where the situation can be highly charged
Ability to work under tight deadlines Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent. Desirable course work would include probability and/or statistics
Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, quality or engineering including experience in implementing advanced quality planning processes
Preferred:
Demonstrated knowledge of plant products, plant processes, departmental relationships and manufacturing financial concepts
