Supplier Quality Engineer

As a member of the Goodrich Supply Chain Team, the Supplier Quality Engineer works with a Commodity Manager and other Supply Chain functions to manage a portfolio of suppliers. The primary focus of the team is to develop supplier partnerships to ensure quality, service and cost requirements meet the needs of the Goodrich operations team.



Responsibilities:

Define and implement a SQE strategy in accordance with Company and Division's policy



Participate in sourcing strategy development with Commodity Management

Provide material expertise for all assigned commodities and matters relating to Supplier processes, supplier quality, and development.



Supervise all aspects of the relationship with suppliers in regards to quality.



Create, implement, and maintain detailed actions plans relative to supplier development activities for all assigned suppliers.

Create and distribute reports on supplier quality performance, supplier corrective action status, containment request status and other reports as determined by management.

Perform product, process and supplier audits and integrate new suppliers into programs.

Prepare and execute rolling audit plan including system audit, process audit, and follow up audits for continuous improvement.

Develop piece part approval plans and work with Supplier partners during first articles.

Drive continuous improvement activities to implement best practices, establish standard work, and eliminate variation and waste to improve performance.

Flow down and manage Goodrich customer requirements to Supply Partners.

Communicate key product characteristics to Suppliers

Collect and analyze data on purchased parts and materials.

Work with Supplier Partners on non-conformance reports and supplier corrective action plans.

Expedite root cause analysis and corrective action plans.

Resolve tooling, documentation & manufacturability issues at the supplier in conjunction with Value Stream functions to include design, quality, processing.

Required

BS degree in an Engineering, Quality Assurance or Supply Chain Management

5+ years of progressive supplier quality or process quality experience



Detailed knowledge of standard Quality systems and supplier management requirements.

Experience with advanced problem solving techniques, 6 sigma tools, corrective action, root cause analysis, CPK, Gage R&R. Yield and general process improvements.

Fluent in reading technical documents and specifications including GD&T.

Experience with supplier manufacturability and design tolerance reviews.

Strong experience with Microsoft Office Suite particularity in Outlook, Excel Power Point & Word.

Good communications skills, verbal and written.



Desired

Experience with machining and/or sheet metal fabrication.

APQP, 8D problem solving and Lean manufacturing experience.

Knowledge of Aerospace or Military products requirements.

Knowledge of AS9100 Quality standards.

Experience with design of experiments.
