SUMMARY

The Supplier Quality Engineer provides quality planning, control and improvement support for product development, manufacturing, purchasing and Oshkosh Corporation suppliers. Provides such support to ensure Oshkosh Corporation quality meets and/or exceeds customer expectations. This will include the use and deployment of quality tools within the New Product Development (NPD), Operations, and Strategic Initiatives such as Six Sigma. Supports the application of Advanced Quality Planning methodologies and tool with critical and integrated suppliers

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.        In the event of a critical quality issue arising and putting OTC production and/or inventory at risk, the SQE will facilitate and monitor all recovery efforts at the supplier.

2.        Investigates product quality problems, determines root cause for unacceptable quality, gathers and analyzes data to facilitate and implement corrective actions at the supplier in question.

3.        Assists in identifying, communicating and resolving supplier quality problems.

4.        Participates in New Product Development Teams as the Quality Representative, ensuring quality activities and plans are formulated with key component suppliers.

5.        Monitors and facilitates quality activities for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Verifies process control, capability and sustainability and the supplier.

6.        Conducts Supplier Quality Audits of existing and new suppliers when required to determine adherence to acceptable quality practices.

7.        Assist suppliers in joint process development

8.        Deploy advanced problems solving tools and methodologies to ensure process control and sustainability (i.e. Six Sigma)

9.        Provide high-level training to suppliers on Advance Quality Planning and Advanced Problem Solving.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

·          Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.

·          5 or more years of experience in specific areas of quality or supplier quality.

·          Strong statistical analysis ability.

·          Prior experience with advanced quality processes and tools (PPAP, FMEA, etc).

·          Prior project management experience.

·          Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.

·          Strong facilitation and presentation skills.

·          Self starter and highly motivated.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·          Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering field

·          Master’s degree

·          Understanding of fundamental business principles and practices.

·          Six Sigma Green or Black belt certified

·          Knowledge of standard lean tools and concepts.

·          Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, preventative maintenance and corrective action, engineering (design/manufacturing), quality, and purchasing methods.
