The ideal candidate must be able to support the supplier quality system to achieve the highest levels of efficiency, quality, and cost savings.
Overall Responsibility
1. Highly skilled at multi-tasking with high volume supplier quality experience (more than 1 million parts annually)
2. Partners effectively with Purchasing & Engineering to select, approve, and assess new suppliers in China.
3. Develops a supplier audit schedule and ensures audits are conducted on a scheduled basis.
4. Ability to travel internationally approximately 60-70% to China.
5. Prepares audit reports based on audit findings.
6. Monitor quality through successful launch.
7. Follows up on corrective actions related to audit findings, nonconforming product, or overall supplier performance to ensure effective resolution and timely closure.
8. Maintains master files of supplier audits and correspondence with suppliers per record retention requirements.
9. Works with Purchasing to track ongoing supplier quality performance and work with suppliers on quality issues.
10. Participates in activities required to qualify suppliers and maintain for various levels of approval, such as preferred, dock to stock, and certified suppliers.
11. Interfaces with receiving inspection personnel.
12. Works with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Assurance on supplier issues to assure timely acceptance of purchased product.
13. Assists in the development, approval, and maintenance of material specifications, vendor instructions, quality assurance procedures, as well as supplier documents such as Quality Control Plans.
14. Assists in the development and qualification of and vendor located inspection, measurement and test equipment.
15. Collects and analyzes quality information from various quality systems and develops reports as needed for senior management review. Provides recommendations based on trends.
16. Conducts or assists in systems/process/product failure mode analysis and initiation of preventive action as it applies to purchase product.
17. Requests, monitors and reviews Supplier’s Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for approval (Flow Charts, FMEA’s, Control Plans, dimensional data, etc.)
18. Understands and is able to review quality records to verify information is correct and complete and that specifications have been met.
19. Identifies and drives continuous quality improvement in area of responsibility.
20. Performs other duties as required by the Supplier Quality Assurance Manager.
21. Excellent understanding of statistical supplier quality tools
Qualifications & Experience
1. BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Science or Engineering.
2. Minimum of 5 years experience in quality assurance / quality systems, 2 of which were involved with supplier quality.
3. Extensive Product Launch experience required.
4. Experience in the automotive industry preferred.
5. CQE certified highly preferred.
6. Must be proficient in use of personal computer and business/technical software (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
7. Formal training and experience in auditing required.
Must possess thorough knowledge of the Quality Systems Regulations and international quality systems and medical device standards.
