Purpose 
 
Responsible for developing and implementing strategies for Supply Chain Management and Enterprise Resource Plan (ERP) at the Salem, MA optoelectronics site. This position directly oversees the activities of scheduling, material planning, material procurement, supplier management, and supply chain systems. This position closely interfaces with production, manufacturing engineering, quality, R&D, sales, and facilities to ensure that supply chain issues are considered as key components of the overall business strategy. Must be a creative problem solver with proven record in achieving results and have the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Key Responsibilities

Drives and communicates all Materials Management activities via our SAP system which include: demand management, SIOP (sales, inventory, and operating plan) process, Master Production Scheduling (MPS), production planning, materials procurement and inventory accuracy.

Manages the supply base to improve quality, delivery, and service performance through the use of a formal Supplier Scorecard process.

Works with Strategic Sourcing Team and internal resources to develop annual material deflation strategy targeted towards corporate initiatives.

Works with Strategic Sourcing Team to identify new sources of supply where necessary to improve performance, reduce cost and reduce supply base.

Effectively practices performance-based-management by coaching and developing direct reports.

Establishes department goals and objectives and drives performance improvement through metrics. 

Coordinates information, with the production area, regarding capacity planning and inventory transactions to meet tough inventory reduction goals.

Coordinates engineering and supplier resources to ensure that supply chain impacts are considered into product design.

Develops and implements strategies that are in line with lean and demand flow methodologies. 

Performs other related duties of comparable complexity as directed.
 
Critical Success Factors 

Education and Experience:

Requires a BS degree in business or a related field.  8 years of progressively greater responsibility in operations and/or purchasing roles.  Minimum of 5 years of management experience or equivalent training/experience.  MBA is preferred
.

Technical Skills:  Good working knowledge of MRP systems and recent SAP experience required. Familiarity with ITAR requirments, military and aerospace industries a plus.

Communication Skills: Effectively communicates with and engages all levels of the organization verbally and in writing; translates technical decisions/strategies into business terms and implications; produces clear, understandable documentation geared for all audiences. 

 Management of Resources: Allocates time and resources efficiently, focusing on ever-shifting priorities; continually seeks way to improve individual/team efficiency. Demonstrates ability to be an effective leader and manager in a matrix-reporting environment.

Business & Organization Knowledge
: Understands the PerkinElmer business and the impact of the Supply Chain organization on the operation.
