Systems Administrator Level I
University of Iowa Health Care Information Systems is searching for a systems administrator with a broad skill set to support researchers in University of Iowa Healthcare. Candidate must have a desire to learn and explore innovative solutions to information technology problems. Position will be responsible for supporting and improvements to research computing systems. Requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Systems administration experience (typically 1-2 years) including detailed knowledge of Linux or Mac OS X in both server and desktop roles is required. Linux or Mac OS X experience should include OS and application installation, migration, configuration, upgrades, support, troubleshooting, and scripting. Must also be familiar with server virtualization using a product such as VMware. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff is also required. Desirable qualifications include IT work experience in a research environment or in any of the following areas: Netvault; rsync; high performance computing including Condor, Sun Grid Engine; operating system experience including OpenSolaris, Rocks/CentOS, VMware; storage using CIFS, Network Appliance, NFS, ZFS; and experience with Puppet, Syslog-ng, scripting and system automation.
