Job Description: Manages network and system performance of a multi-user computing system. Responsibilities include designing the computing infrastructure, providing technical assistance and consulting to the users, and developing tools for managing the system. Designs and develops server disaster recovery strategies. Troubleshoots high profile system performance issues utilizing root-cause analysis and recommends appropriate action. Develops policies and standards for allocation and use of computer equipment and resources. Ensures data integrity by evaluating, proposing, implementing and managing software and hardware solutions. May recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
Qualifications:
- Active SECRET clearance with SSBI required
- Extensive experience administering UNIX systems. (AIX is preferred, but significant experience with other variants is acceptable.)
- Experience with UNIX Logical Volume Management, such as AIX Logical Volume Manager or Veritas Volume Manager.
- Knowledge of formalized security evaluation and remediation concepts and strategies, such as implementation of DISA STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guides)
- IBM HACMP operation and configuration. Experience with other High Availability software suites is acceptable.
- Tivoli Storage Manager, or other Enterprise Backup and Recovery software (Legato NetWorker, for instance)
- SAN technologies, including fabric design, and zoning management.
- Ability to interact with the help desk in completing systems related user requests.
- Experience – 10 years with no degree, 8 years with Bachelor's, 6 years with Master’s
Beneficial Experience and knowledge, in order of desirability:
- IBM Enterprise Storage Server (“Shark”), or other centralized storage systems, such as EMC or Hitachi Data Systems.
