Job Opportunity for a System Administrator – Wheeling, WV
Engineering jobs at TTi are staffed by analytical, upbeat, creative, team-oriented engineers and managers working on a daily basis to develop innovative technology solutions. TTi System Administrator's are involved in every facet of the Supercomputing Center including design, troubleshooting, performance analysis, capacity planning, DNS, networking and application behavior. TTi engineers are equipped with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive and are ultimately responsible for making sure that the technology always works.
Role
As a System Administrator, you'll support a newly established Supercomputing Center. You are goal-oriented, have the ability to handle interrupts while fluidly switching between several projects, and take a "work smarter, not harder" approach. You will wear many hats: first responder, performance analyst, service architect, system/database administrator, capacity planner, tools developer, monitoring expert, and technical evangelist for the entire Supercomputing Center. Using your analytical and code-level troubleshooting abilities you will tackle a range of complex software and systems issues. Your fluent written communication and verbal agility allows you to work effectively with executives and team members both inside and outside of TTi.
Responsibilities
-Expertise in Linux system administration, including configuration, troubleshooting and automation.
-Fluency in at least one scripting/coding language.
-Experience running highly-visible computing services including requirements and capacity analysis, service configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting, and change management.
-Strong understanding of IP Networking, including familiarity with the functionality, operating, and failure modes of common networking devices, and the ability to analyze network behavior, performance and application issues using standard tools.
-Perform daily maintenance of Linux rack mounted systems in a cluster environment along with blade node that will be used to develop real-time code.
-Build and install new Linux systems.
-Monitor all systems on a daily bases.
-Perform upgrades and patches to the OS.
-Perform Backup maintenance.
-Provide support for local and remote users.
-Manage RAID based storage systems.
-Implement security vulnerability remediation.
-Support GE and 10GE backbone network.
Requirements
-Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
-Four or more years of experience with Linux systems administration.
-Solid Scripting skills in Shell, Perl, or Python.
-Knowledge of C, C++, and Java.
-Must have full knowledge of NFS, NIS, LDAP, SAMBA, Auto Mount, and NTP.
-SQL experience a plus.
-Proven technical troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.
-Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
-Ability to handle periodic on-call duty as well as out-of-band requests.
-Experience leading short projects involving outside teams is a plus.
-Must be a U.S. Citizen.
