Electronic Classroom Tech Needed in Newport, RI
Essential Job Functions
  • Analyzes, logs, tracks and resolves complex software/hardware matters of significance pertaining to networking connectivity issues, printer, servers, and applications to meet business needs.
  • Coordinates hardware/software installations and upgrades to ensure work is properly performed in accordance with company policy. Recommends resolution to complex matters of significance and coordinates the implementation of the approved course of action.
  • Coordinates and monitors troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems; documents system events to ensure continuous functioning. Recommends course of action and implements as approved.
  • Oversees the installation of client department-specific applications and systems. Ensures installations are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures; determines revisions or updates to installation as needed.
  • Coordinates testing, upgrades and configuration of system files and services. Ensures changes are in accordance with appropriate operating procedures; recommends revisions or changes based upon results. Prepares for and prescribes approaches to possible downstream implications.
  • Utilizes standard corporate tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes.
  • Troubleshoot and run diagnostics on microcomputer equipment, effect repairs on microcomputers, peripheral devices, terminals, scanners and other related equipment as part of a technical team. Install and upgrade hardware and software as required. Provide technical assistance to users for software and hardware related problems. Identify and provide description and specifications for repair parts. Provide detailed information on malfunctions of equipment under warranty for reporting to vendor. Utilize diagnostic tools to analyze microcomputer deficiencies. Take corrective action such as repairing and/or replacing workstations. Receive, unpack, inspect, tag, distribute, and test incoming computer and network communications hardware to ensure all parts have been received and are in satisfactory condition. This may involve moving incoming computer hardware from the loading dock to a temporary storage area. Provide pertinent equipment inventory and tracking information to government equipment custodians as required.
  • Provide system integration support for hardware, software, and analysis, configuration, testing, and implementation. Provide technical system integration support on the operations and administration functions associated with hardware, software, and LAN configuration. Determine implementation procedures for new or modified hardware, software, operating systems, update operating system products, and test system software changes. Takes direction and work assignments from direct supervisor and/or designated technical leads.


Qualification
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field preferred
  • Four or more years of experience with computer systems or networking
  • Experience working with computer hardware for installation and upgrades
  • Experience working with software installation/upgrading procedures
  • Experience working with file and system maintenance procedures

Other Qualifications
  • Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work, and multitask
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot systems problems
  • Good communication skills to communicate with support personnel, customers, and managers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Prefer Bachelor's with four (4) years of related experience, eight (8) years in lieu with H.S. Diploma. A minimum of at least 80 classroom hours of related technical instruction is required.
  • Able to provide hardware troubleshooting, upgrade, and repair; Software integration
    TCP/IP and/or Network Management; Desktop Application Support; Customer service in support of military member instructors and POCs. Works as part of a technical team.
  • CompTia A+, Network +, and/or Security + certifications are preferred.
  • Windows operating systems, Server 2003, Microsoft Office software, SMS type programs, OS patching, and Antivirus applications.
  • Possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.
