Essential Job Functions
  • Performs moderately complex systems and database administration. Monitors and tunes appropriate systems to ensure optimum level of performance.
  • Oversees appropriate level software installations and upgrades and related software packages.
  • Collects and reviews system data for capacity and planning purposes. Analyzes capacity data and develops capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems. Coordinates with appropriate management personnel in implementing changes.
  • Supports the design and configuration of complex system landscapes.
  • Supports complex data/media recoverability through system backups and database archive operations. Plans, coordinates and directs appropriate level data refresh strategies.
  • Oversees, recommends and implements appropriate level database solutions and enhancements to ensure an improvement in system reliability and performance.
  • Oversees and applies appropriate support packages/patches to maintain system integrity.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate system documentation to ensure that documentation is current. Oversees the maintenance of a library of system-supporting process and procedure documentation.
  • Interacts with client management to answer questions, problems and requests regarding complex system issues.
  • Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel.
  • Leads and participates in highly complex system integration projects. Installs, generates, maintains, tests, debugs, and integrate system software programs with COTS/GOTS applications and support equipment, develops instructions for integration of operating system software, and modifies/maintains integration packages via releases and utilities from manufacturers in a multi-operating system and/or network operating system environment. Evaluates existing operating systems/COTS/GOTS software and recommends changes. Optimizes systems software performance. Responsible for applications dealing with the overall operating system, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, networks, CAD or GIS system software, or mathematical/scientific software packages. Engineers highly complex software that may relate directly to operating systems, their performance or devices controlled.


Qualification

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred
  • Six or more years of experience in a client-server environment
  • Experience working with appropriate complex systems administration, database administration, and landscape maintenance
  • Experience working with company products and services
  • Experience working with company and client documentation and storage procedures
  • Experience working with complex system implementations and organizational processes

  • Good personal computer and business solutions software skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Prefer Bachelor's with six (6) years of related experience, ten (10) years in lieu with H.S. Diploma.
  • Network and System support responsibilities include knowledge and experience of installation, problem detection, resolution and maintenance of software in use on site. Support may require walking, standing and moving equipment such as monitors, printers and computers.
  • CompTia A+, Network +, SSCP and/or Security + certifications obtained within the last three years are preferred. Travel may be required to alternate support sites including Naval Station Everett, WA and/or NAS, Whidbey Island, WA.
  • MS Server 2000 - 2003, Active Directory, MS Office Professional. SMS, Windows Operating System 2000 and higher, IE 6.0, Retina, DoD approved anti-virus software/tools, and/or DoN approved IA compliancy scanning software.
  • Possess and maintain a SECRET Clearance.
