System Administrator / Unix - Linux
Responsibilities
* Resolve nation-wide computer support problems reported to Help Desk
* Provide first-level contact and problem resolution for all users with hardware, software and applications problems. Resolve as many user-reported problems as expertise permits using available tools and following procedures and policies for the handling of support cases.
* Use advanced troubleshooting skills.
* Courteously obtain and convey concise problem information for external and internal service personnel.
* Provide accurate and timely logging of problems and resolution for problems in the HP Service Desk problem management database.
* Escalate problems as appropriate following HD procedures.
* Act as a liaison between customers and internal support staff to assure accurate problem interpretation.
* Maintain communications with customers during the problem resolution process.
* Utilizes superior customer service skills.
* Solve problems on Windows and Linux platforms with equal proficiency.
* Perform HD expeditor functions as assigned.
Experience and Skills Required
* Linux expertise mandatory. RedHat Linux Certification preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate by phone or in person.
* Demonstrated writing ability.
* Demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes in handling difficult situations and customers.
* Demonstrated analytical and troubleshooting skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work in the HD environment.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on projects to completion.
* Flexible work schedule including SHIFT, WEEK-END AND HOLIDAYS. THIS IS FOR FIRST AND SECOND SHIFT.
* Must be an US Citizen or possess a Green Card, plus be clearable for a Position with Public Trust
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in computer science
* Five or more years of experience with computer systems or networking . Experience working with computer hardware for installation and upgrades . Experience working with software installation/upgrading procedures
* Experience working with file and system maintenance procedures

* Good organization skills to balance and prioritize work, and multitask
* Good analytical and problem solving skills to troubleshoot systems problems
* Good communication skills to communicate with support personnel, customers, and managers.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
