Position Description

The MAGNet / CG-2 System Administrator (SA) will provide daily system support and maintenance for MAGNet and other CG-2 systems, to include USCG, US Navy, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) customers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Day-to-day operational support and administration of MAGNet / CG-2 systems
• Strong knowledge and experience in managing production server environments, to include installation & maintenance of SUN/Intel/Linux Servers and other associated hardware.
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of SOLARIS 10, Red Hat Linux, and Microsoft (MS) Windows systems administration, to include standard services, protocols, applications, software upgrades, performance tuning, data recovery, and so forth.
• Participate in design and maintenance of security infrastructure
• Provide technical input for system documentation
• Participate in on-call rotation for 24x7 support, as well as pager and/or cell phone accessibility.
• Support of Change Management (CM) procedures and policies.

·        Support cross-training initiatives to ensure system maintainability and be willing to train/mentor junior-level SA’s.

• Ability to diagnose server and network problems to effectively resolve issues

·        Experience with server hardening, security implementation strategies, and system monitoring tools.

·        Strong customer service and consultation skills.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

·        7+ years Information Technology (IT) experience in similar areas

·        5+ years UNIX (Solaris) Red Hat Linux, and MS Windows administration

·        5+ years in a production environment.

·        3+ years Programming Experience (shell, PERL, C++, SQL, PLSQL)

·        Storage Area Network System (SANS) and Veritas NetBackup experience

Required Education

Bachelors Degree, Computer Science, Computer Information Science or equivalent experience

Required Certification/Training

None required, Oracle/Server/OS Training/Certifications preferred

Miscellaneous Requirements

Secret Clearance with the ability to upgrade to and/or obtain a Top Secret (TS) Clearance.
