Essential Job Functions
- Performs more complex product design, system analysis and programming activities on application software to ensure that company technology needs are met.
- Performs design, implementation and maintenance of complex multiple product modules/subsystems or on lower level issues of multiple products to ensure proper functioning of products. Participates in product design meeting to ensure that design concepts are transferred into application development successfully.
- Performs more complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products; researches problems discovered by quality analysts or product support to ensure that appropriate solutions are developed.
- Works with technical staff to understand problems with software to ensure that they are resolved in a timely manner.
- Resolves customer concerns and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements to ensure customer satisfaction with product.
- Evaluates technical documentation of product sub-systems for accuracy and ease of use.
- Researches and understands marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria, competitive issues and new technology and development tools to ensure that product meets market demands appropriately.
- Evaluates programs written by lower level staff to ensure adherence to company and client specifications.
- Serves as product architect as necessary, to ensure design and implementation of product meets objectives.
Job Summary
Responsible to the Director of Information Services and working collaboratively with users of the Clinical Information System, will be responsible for coordinating aspects of planning, design, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of the Clinical Information System (CIS). Professionally accountable to the Director of Professional Nursing.
Job Responsibilities
- Coordinate and participate in aspects of systems analysis, planning, design, development, testing, and implementation of the CIS.
- Participate in planning related to future direction of the CIS and related efforts.
- Coordinate processing and follow-up of requests for enhancement and changes from users or others affected by the system.
- Coordinate and participate in efforts towards maintaining components of the automated CIS, including revisions, testing, and integration of changes in components of the CIS.
- Maintain documentation and tracking of required fixes, enhancements, and testing.
- Collaborate with the Director Information Services, Training and Support in coordinating evaluation of development efforts, in planning pilot and full implementations of new CIS features, and in processing user feedback and requests.
- Collaborate with [enterprise] regional representatives, [enterprise] departments and sections, as well as outside consultants and company representatives, in the planning, development, testing, revision, and maintenance of the CIS.
- Participate in computer training and orientation activities for current and in-coming personnel, students, and faculty.
- Participate in provision of pro-active support to end users.
- Maintain membership on, or consultation to, committees, work groups, or task forces as needed to communicate and facilitate the ongoing progress of the development, implementation, and revision of the CIS.
- Maintain a detailed understanding and working knowledge of the current CIS, its functions and its relationship to other information systems within the enterprise.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of Nursing and Healthcare Informatics, as well as new developments in hardware and software technology.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nursing practices, JCAHO standards, management and healthcare issues and trends, and the legal implications of the CIS.
- Participate in research related to the CIS.
- Initiate and participate in presentations and publications about the CIS at conferences and in professional journals as appropriate. Attend conferences and seminars as appropriate.
- Maintain membership in organizations that enhance professional growth.
- Maintain relationships with theNursing and Clinical communities.

Qualification
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer science or related field preferred
- Six or more years of product design and support or systems development experience
- Experience working with software development methodologies, software development life cycle, design and implementation
- Experience working with product systems design principles and company application development policies and procedures
- Experience working with appropriate programming languages, operating systems, hardware and software
- Experience working with company software and hardware products and related business issues that may impact overall business plans
- Experience working with relational databases, mainframes, scheduling software and other related technologies, and firewall theory and configuration
- Experience working with the entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance
