Cogent, Inc, based in Pasadena, California, a leading Hi-Tech development company in the fields of image processing, biometrics and fingerprint identification, and system integration, is seeking a professional, self-motivated, detail-oriented Software / System QA Engineer with the following qualifications:

* 3+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance with a distinguished track record in complex software systems on various platforms;

* Strong network/application troubleshooting and systems engineering background with Linux/Unix/Windows required;

* Experience with multiple database platforms, including Oracle, and strong SQL knowledge desired;

* Strong skills in TCP/IP networking desired;

* Experience in leading complex projects from test planning to production launch;

* Experience in planning, designing, and performing functional and system level tests;

* Experience in programming with one of the languages: C/C++, Java, Perl or VBScript;

* Experience with building installation packages a plus;

* Able to set priorities, accommodate requirement and resource changes;

* Knowledge of performance testing a plus;

* Must be a good team player and enjoy working in a fast pace environment;

* Excellent written and oral English communication skills;

* Able and willing to work under pressure;

* Able and willing to work extra hours if necessary;

* Able and willing to travel for system installation and customer support;

* Must have B.S. or M.S. degree in CS, EECS or related fields.

* Must have legal working permit in the US.  US Citizen strongly preferred.  

* Must be able to pass security background check.
