Systems Administrator Sr
Description:
Candidate will perform systems administration for Solaris systems. Candidate will apply extensive technical expertise in Solaris System Administration and will have full knowledge of other related IT disciplines to include network connectivity, shell scripting, user support, and hardware configurations; also monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum level of performance by utilizing operational knowledge in a complex network and its file system.
The candidate is a member of a team which supports all aspects of server installations, upgrades, problem resolution, and recovery. Candidate must develop technical solutions and be able to solve complex problems. This position may require some off-hour support (nights and weekends) for planned and unplanned outages. Proven ability to successfully troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving multiple servers and applications is a must. The successful candidate will have knowledge of ITIL processes and operational best practices. Candidate must have the ability to install and configure SUN based H/W (i.e. LDOM, blade servers) and work with a variety of COTS S/W such as installing and configuring (i.e. SW development tools).
Candidate must be able to maintain information security and follow established processes and standards to ensure server data integrity while evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware controls. Candidate will ensure data/media recovery by implementing a schedule of system/database backups/images. Conducts routine audits for compliance with established security standards, policies, procedures and configuration guidelines. Position requires the ability to develop documentation to support the customer environments including custom configurations and support documentation. This position requires good technical writing skills as well as effective communications across all levels of the program including co-workers, management, and the customer.
The successful candidate will act as a self-motivated and self-directed team member. Perform work assigned by manager and lead by example with a positive attitude interacting with customers, peers, and management.
