Description:
This SAN systems engineering position will provide support to the Enterprise Storage Branch with a cadre of Storage Administrators and SAN Manager. Candidate will work directly with various storage networking architectures including storage area networks (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS) topologies and associated components. This position requires experience in large heterogeneous, enterprise class storage solutions comprised of components from various industry leading vendors. It will provide the candidate the opportunity to exploit current skills and gain additional in-depth knowledge in IBMs Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) and/or Symmantecs NetBackup backup/archive applications which could include design, installation, setup, and administration along with experience in backup/archive/restoration of large enterprise database systems, i.e. Oracle and Sybase, along with file-based systems such as Microsoft Windows. Candidate may be responsible for the administration of several large backup servers, along with management of hundreds of schedules and the peripheral equipment (i.e., automated tape libraries) associated with these hosts. Candidate will install, setup configurations along with assisting the Windows and Unix/Linux System Administrators with setup and integration of storage networking components associated with the Unix and/or Windows based hosts. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science.
- Requires several years of hands-on practical working experience in storage networking architectures, including storage area networks (SAN) and network attached storage (NAS) topologies and associated components.
- Must have knowledge and working experience in Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) or NetBackup backup/archive applications, i.e. design, installation, setup, and administration along with file-based systems such as Microsoft Windows
- Must have installation, setup, and administration of heterogeneous Storage Area Network (SAN) environment including hardware components and associated software management tools in correlation with support to at least 1 major operating system.
- Current knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure components including storage subsystems and fibre-channel switches
- SAN implementation experience may including Host Bus Adapters (HBA) and associated drivers including product upgrades from Emulex and Qlogic, enterprise class storage subsystems including from EMC, Hitachi Data Systems, Hewlett-Packard, and Network Appliance and respective management software, McData and Brocade Fiber Channel storage switches and management software, storage network protocols including iSCSI, iFCP, FCIP, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve storage infrastructure problems.
- Working knowledge of file systems including CIFS and NFS
- Configuration and implementation of Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions in an enterprise storage environment
- Ability to gather appropriate capacity and performance requirements to recommend optional solutions to meet or surpass those requirements
- Disk storage based data replication solutions including benefits and limitations of using different modes
- Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) backup software and implementation
- Implementation of IBM automated tape library ( including 3494/3590, 3584/LTO and Storage ATLs in a SAN environment
- Implementation of LAN free and serverless tape backup configurations suing TSM or NetBackup in a SAN environment
- Develop and document operational procedures including implementation schedules when appropriate.
